Dhanush Chooses Queensland as Asia Pacific headquarters

The Asia Pacific arm of international software services firm, Dhanush InfoTech will call Queensland home, investing $1.5 million in a state of the art facility at Springfield.
Treasurer and Minister for Employment and Economic Development Andrew Fraser said apart from bringing the international ICT industry to Queensland, the Indian firm’s Springfield premises would create more than 200 local jobs during its first few years of operation.
“This is a coup for Springfield which has been positioning itself as one of Queensland’s hi tech hubs of the future,” Mr. Fraser said.
Dhanush plans to become one of the largest information and communication technology (ICT) employers in the region, and its global reach will be a draw card for other international firms looking to grow their market in the Asia Pacific. It’s becoming increasingly clear that successful overseas firms consider Queensland to be a viable next step when expanding their international operations.
Dhanush’s presence in Springfield presents a major opportunity to increase the international exposure of Queensland’s emerging local ICT industry. The firm received a grant from the Queensland Investment and Incentive Scheme, a State Government program aimed at attracting new industry to Queensland, to assist in establishing their Springfield headquarters.
Dhanush Chairman DSN Murthy said a number of factors influenced the firm’s final decision to base its Asia Pacific operations in Springfield. “Queensland is recognized as a leader in IT security and games development, and is a significant provider of software to asset intensive industries,” Mr. Murthy said. “The positive business climate in the region, the opportunity for ongoing business partnerships here and the support from the State Government all contributed to the business case for choosing Springfield.”
Dhanush Director of Operations, Mr. Lalit Gupta said the company had set high goals for its first few years of operation. “Over the next few years we anticipate our staff numbers at Springfield Central to grow substantially to support operations in the Australian, New Zealand and Asia Pacific regions,” he said. “If there’s one place that we can reach these milestones, it’s Queensland.”
Mr. Fraser said that the company would also work with local universities and training institutions to establish its own technology academy.
Dhanush joins a growing list of major ICT firms associated with Queensland, such as IBM, Oracle, Red Hat, SAP, Sun Microsystems, Mincom and Technology One.
